Our Capacities and Partners

thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (tkMS) is one of the world’s leading companies in naval shipbuilding, with a decades-long track record as a reliable partner. Having delivered over 170 submarines and 78 surface vessels, we have consistently demonstrated our ability to execute complex projects "in time, in quality, and in budget." The MEKO® class stands as a prime example of our success: flexible, robust, and technologically advanced. It meets the rigorous requirements of both the German and Royal Norwegian Navies and has proven itself in many countries around the world.

Our state-of-the-art production facilities are fully prepared for the construction start. With an expansion worth more than €250 million at our Kiel site and the acquisition and integration of the Wismar shipyard, we further enhanced our position among the most modern shipyards in Europe. This combination provides a strong foundation for a further cooperation with Norwegian yards and other international partners.

An example of successful collaboration is the Kongsberg Thyssen Atlas (kta) joint venture. This German-Norwegian partnership highlights how the technological expertise of both nations can be effectively harnessed. Numerous Norwegian suppliers have already been identified, offering key technologies such as electronics, weapon systems, and sonar technologies. This close integration not only strengthens industrial cooperation but also generates significant economic benefits, fostering local value creation. It stands as a powerful testament to the strength and sustainability of the German-Norwegian partnership.
