A Day in a Life: Svenja connects her organizational talent with a supportive mindset
Before working in the Human Resources Department, Svenja finished her apprenticeship as industrial management assistant at ATLAS ELEKTRONIK. She started her new role to support others in their career paths. This topic is familiar to her personally as well, since she is studying Business Psychology part-time and thus, shaping her own career as well.
Not your ordinary company
But what drove her to ATLAS in the first place? Svenja explains how she was intrigued by the unconventional portfolio, the scale of the company and how she liked the kind atmosphere in her job interview – something that she is keen on developing even further by giving new impulses. Currently, she is supporting the introduction of a new system for performance- and employee-interviews and works her way into the topic of diversity, awareness, and leadership.
Variety is daily routine
That is what Svenja likes about her job: the topics she is working on are challenging, exciting and versatile. She plans and organizes further training and education measures and advises employees and managers on these opportunities.
“I also take part in assessment and development centers and observe these procedures in order to be able to identify strengths and areas of development afterwards and to advise participants individually and support them in their personal and professional development.” Thereby she is frequently taken out of her comfort zone, and she considers exactly that enriching.
The future of Human Resources Development
The professional world is changing fast – one may not know how one’s own job will look like ten years from now, but anticipating change based on current development enables taking smart decisions. Svenja is convinced that digitalization will further impact Human Resources Development. “Administrative processes are going to be streamlined and automated”, she says. “In addition, the human and knowledge factors will continue to move into focus and, in particular, maintaining one’s own skills will become increasingly relevant.” As HR manager, not only the word ‘digitalization’ comes up, of course, but also the shortage of skilled workers – which is already a challenge.
Tips for young professionals
In addition to professional skills, Svenja highlights that being able to work independently and finding creative solutions are important competencies for her job. And not to forget: So are having fun organizing and being empathic with your co-workers.
